What do I think? I don’t know. I
don’t think anything. He was a
client. He was quiet, he paid on
time. That’s what I think.
Why do you ask?
ЛУЧИЯ
I wondered… if he has something to do with that boy.
СЪСЕДКАТА
He doesn’t.
ЛУЧИЯ
How do you know?
Съседката поглежда сестра си.
СЪСЕДКАТА
In fact...
(пауза)
You know, when he came, I think a
couple of years ago, at some point,
he brought a girl. I don’t know,
maybe 30-35 years old. She was
nice, pretty. She looked a lot like
you.
(пауза)
Well, I didn’t get to see her very
clearly, they were gone in the
morning and came back in the
evening...
She stayed here, I think two or
three days maybe. And, one night, I
heard her crying in the garden. I
wanted to ask her what happened,
but then… I hesitated, it was late,
just… The next day, she was gone. I
felt pity for her.

I don’t know, maybe they argued.
She seemed very much in love with
him. I thought, back then: this boy
doesn’t have a heart. But I think I
was wrong.
He didn’t seem very happy either. I
think he’s the kind of guy who
prefer a quiet life. He doesn’t
want complications. And now, he’s
got complications. I pity him
more.
(пауза)
Настъпва мълчание, Лучия не казва нищо повече.
СЪСЕДКАТА
That’s what you wanted to ask me?
ЛУЧИЯ
Yes.
(пауза)
Do you know the boy’s family?
СЪСЕДКАТА
The one missing?

СЪСЕДКАТА (CONT'D)
Not so much.

They’re simple people. But I find
this guy, your friend, a little
strange.
Сестрата прави пауза, а Лучия чака.
СЕСТРАТА НА СЪСЕДКАТА (CONT'D)
To go out with a girl that age, so much younger, it’s a sin. He was all over her from the first moment. I saw them. It’s not ok.
Am I right or what? Don’t you think he’s the one to blame?
Лучия се замисля за момент.
ЛУЧИЯ
It’s possible.
(пауза)
He was the last to see the boy.
СЪСЕДКАТА
(уморена)
Well, maybe you’re right. If you
know something, you should go tell
the police. They arrested two of
the hobos. They did nothing wrong,
that I’m sure. They’re innocents.
(раздразнено)
But these people from the village
are narrow minded. They live in
fear that somebody will come to
take what’s their’s. But look, what is it to take? Nothing? That’s stupid! With that stupid flags and all...
